The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted education worldwide, particularly affecting disadvantaged children. In Thailand, the Myanmar migrant education system faced challenges even before the pandemic. In 2019, a project called "Bridges" aimed to improve it.

The pandemic worsened education in Thailand, and Myanmar's political crisis added to the turmoil. In 2021, researchers interviewed 1,013 participants to assess the impact on migrant education. The report, "Stepping Stones," focuses on access, learning, and protection, highlighting the resilience of educational pathways and the potential for building new bridges for these children's future.
