Effective population-level promotion of positive parenting and violence prevention in high-adversity settings
"Being Family" is a film-based intervention developed with migrant communities from Myanmar, featuring evidence-based parenting skills from the WHO-UNICEF Parenting for Lifelong Health programs. Our recent study, involving 2,249 caregivers on the Thailand-Myanmar border, shows that "Being Family" significantly boosts positive and playful parenting, prevents physical violence against children, and encourages caregiver involvement in early learning activities. It also enhances parenting knowledge, family functioning, social support, and reduces the belief in harsh punishment.
It could not have been possible without The Inclusive Education Foundation Mae Tao Clinic Sermpanya Foundation Mc Master University, Duke University, Oxford University and Mahidol University.
